58 Meetup Groups match “Walking and Hiking” near New Haven, CT
Meet other local hiking enthusiasts as a group of friends exploring, learning, and having fun on the trail and occasionally other ways. Besides hiking we sometimes do: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, biking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, camping, etc. We range all over CT, central to western MA, and sometimes southern NY. Occasionally we make trips further out typically to central and northern NY, VT, NH, and ME.
Hiking With Dogs is free and open to every dog-lover. This group is for anyone who wants to be outdoors in the company of dogs. Hikes will be setup in the Eastern part of CT. Since the current leadership has no sense of direction, we often get lost, but that adds to the fun. Consider yourselves warned! :-) I would like everyone to add at least one picture of themselves and/or their dog(s). Also please put your pup's name. Thanks!! Anyone who has sugestions of hikes that are in out of the way …

This group is open to new members by referral only. As of June 14, 2012 I have changed the name of this group to better reflect its membership and hiking venues. For the first few years the name Central Fairfield County Hikers Meetup Group served well to indicate where the membership was from and where the hiking venues were located. Since then the group has expanded to include members from several states and we hike all over New York and New England. We welcome nature enthusiasts and hikers …

Meet other local hiking enthusiasts who are not afraid to wake up early on a Saturday and take a walk in the woods, or to spend a Sunday afternoon hanging around outside, instead of on the couch! Explore the beautiful southern Connecticut hills in all seasons, on two-hour, non-competitive, adult hikes. Not for the "extreme" set; nor the extremely lazy. BYO water and snacks for a short sit-down break at half-time, and enjoy the view!
This group enjoys keeping fit while having fun walking and hiking in the great outdoors. We explore trails, parks, and beaches on weekends throughout the year. All events are intended to be easy to moderate in difficulty so that even those who are new to hiking can feel happy participating. However, reasonable physical fitness is necessary due to the nature of the activity, and this group is recommended for those who can walk comfortably for at least 2 hours. We don't go at a fast pace but also …
THERE IS NOTHING more natural than hiking through nature barefoot. The soles of your feet and toes are wonderful sensory organs and the myriad of feelings from earth, grass, moss, pine-needles, and mud are wonderful. Many could not see hiking any other way. HIKING BAREFOOT causes virtually no trail erosion since a bare foot makes much less of an imprint than a booted foot. Bare feet are therefore the environmentally sound choice for hiking. THE BAREFOOT HIKERS are groups of people who enjoy hiki …
